Active Substance Analysis of Biocidal Products

According to the Product Type-1 and Product Type-19: Instruction on Biocidal Product Analysis, the acceptable tolerance limit values for the active substance in the finished product samples taken by the manufacturer, taken from the production line or imported, must comply with the values specified in "Table-1".  

If the active substance content is outside the limit values ​​specified in Table-1, stability, biological/microbiological efficacy and irritation tests of these products are not performed.

The main active ingredient analyzes performed in our laboratory are: Alcohol Determination: Ethyl Alcohol is the most commonly used type in biocidal products.

Ethyl alcohol is most commonly used in alcohols used for killing microorganisms. Apart from ethyl alcohol, Isopropyl alcohol is another type of alcohol used in biocides.

Determination of Sodium Hypochlorite: Another active substance most frequently used in biocides in our country is "sodium hypochlorite". Due to its high bactericidal effect, it is especially used as an active ingredient in surface disinfectants.

Determination of Iodine and Povidone Iodine: Iodine and povidone-iodine are active substances in disinfectants used especially in hospitals. In products used as antiseptics, iodine and povidone iodine are usually found as active ingredients.

Determination of Hydrogen Peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide, which has many industrial uses, is used as an antiseptic, especially in skin injuries. Hydrogen peroxide, also known as oxygenated water, is frequently used in hospitals.

Determination of Chlorhexidine Gluconate: Chlorhexidine, which is very effective against Gram-positive bacteria and has low toxicity, is used in hospitals for procedures such as pre-operative hand hygiene and pre-operative skin disinfection.

Active ingredient analyzes in biocidal products should be analyzed by laboratories authorized by the Ministry of Health. Our laboratory is in the list of laboratories authorized by the Ministry of Health.
