Endotoxin is originally a lipopolysaccharide and is found in the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria that cause pyrogenic reactions in humans.
In particular, the water to be used in the production of medical products, especially parenteral solutions, must be free of endotoxins.
This test, which is made using "amebocyte lysate" obtained from horseshoe crab, is carried out especially in dialysis waters and medical products that come into contact with the body.
Bacterial endotoxin test, which is expressed as "Limulus amoebocyte lysate" and also known as "LAL test", is an important parameter in terms of microbial control of products.
With the LAL test, the presence of endotoxin in the product can be tested in accordance with the "European Pharmacopoeia Standards".
