On 18 March 2010, the Biosecurity Law was accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and then published in the Official Gazette on 26 March 2010. The biosecurity law and two regulations came into force on 26 September 2010. One of these regulations is the regulation on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and their products.
The introduction of GMO and its products in the biosafety law 10531 without approval, the use or use of GMO and its products in contradiction with the board decision, the production of genetically modified plants and animals, the use of GMO and its products outside the scope of launching the GMO and its products, baby foods of GMO and its products. and infant formulas and follow-on formulas and the use of infant / toddler supplements.
The Biosafety Law No. 10531 does not cover medicines and cosmetics.
The person who imports, produces or releases GMO and its products in contradiction with the provisions of the biosafety law shall be sentenced to imprisonment from 5 to 12 years and a judicial fine of up to ten thousand liras.
